salgoodcropedSalgood Sam is a comics artist with over 25 years experience crafting sequential art for both love and money. He’s worked as Work For Hire talent, as well as an editor and restoration artist of classic comics. And in recent years has financed his independent graphic novels through grants and crowdfunding. And is personally familiar with nearly all aspects of the artform.

Starting early in the 90s he was employed by Marvel and DC comics as a freelancer on titles like ‘Saint Sinner’, ‘Clive Barker’s Nightbreed’, ‘Dr Strange’, ‘Morbius the Living Vampire’, ‘Ghostrider 2099’, ‘Spiderman 2099’, ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘Ghostbusters’, And ‘Terminator’.

He’s best known today for his work on ‘Sea of Red’ [Image] and the graphic novels ‘Therefore, Repent!’ [IDW/NMK] & ‘Dream Life | a late coming of age’ [Spilt Ink/Kickstarter]. He also lent a hand restoring Frank King’s classic comic strip Gasoline Alley for Drawn and Quarterly, and currently self publishes his own comics anthology series ‘Revolver Quarterly’, showcasing a wide variety of drawing and narrative styles. And as an independent publisher he’s run three successful crowdfunding campaigns.

Additionally he helped found both the Monthly Toronto Comic Jam, & Monthly Montreal Comic Jam. The comics news site Sequential, and is the recipient of three grants and served as a Peer Juror for the Canadian Council for the Arts judging graphic novel grant applications.

Sam Salgood est un dessinateur de bande dessinée qui a plus de 25 ans d’expérience dans l’art séquentiel. Il a été éditeur, travaillé à son compte et restauré des bandes dessinées. Ces dernières années, il a financé ses romans graphiques grâce à des subventions et au financement participatif. Il est donc familier avec chaque aspect de cet art.

A ses débuts dans les années 90, il a travaillé pour Marvel et DC comics en tant qu’artiste freelance sur des titres tels que “Saint Sinners”, “Cabal” de Clive Barker, “Doctor Strange”, “Morbius le vampire”, “Ghost Rider”, “Wonderwoman”, “SOS fantômes” et “Terminator”.

De nos jours, il est plus connu pour son travail dans “Sea of Red” (Image Comics) ou encore le roman graphique “Therefore, Repent!” (IDW/NMK) et “Dream Life | a late coming of age” (publié à titre d’auteur sur Kickstarter). Il a aussi participé à la restauration du comic strip classique de Frank King “Gasoline Alley” et publie désormais à titre d’auteur sa propre bande dessinée, “ Revolver Quarterly”, dans laquelle il utilise une grande variété de styles de dessin et de narration. En tant qu’éditeur indépendant, il a mené à bien trois campagnes de financement participatif.

Par ailleurs, il a été le co-fondateur du “Monthly Toronto Comic Jam” & “Monthly Montreal Comic Jam“, du site d’actualités sur les bandes dessinées “Sequential” et est le bénéficiaire de trois subventions différentes. Il est également juré au sein du Conseil des Arts du Canada où il juge les candidatures d’auteurs de romans graphiques qui souhaitent obtenir des subventions. Salgood est un professeur populaire et expérimenté de Syn Studio.
